الكلمات المركبة (collocations) هي عبارات تتكون من كلمتين غالبا ما تذهب مع بعضها البعض. هذه الكتلمات مهمة جدا خاصة في مستوى الثانية بكالوريا لأن إمتحانات البكالوريا تتضمن تمارين حول الكلمات المركبة غالبا ما تكون على شكل "صل بخط بين الكلمات" و في بعض الأحيان "إملأ الفراغ بالكلمة المناسبة". مثلا كلمة (school) دائما ما تدهب مع (public) أو (private) و نقول (public school) و تعني مدرسة عمومية أو (private school) و تعني مدرسة خاصة.

8.	The rate of dropping out of school is increasing in rural areas because parents can't afford to pay school for their kids to complete their education.
9.	When the teacher explains lessons, students should take and revise them at home.
