Causes Effects and Solutions Of Dropping out of School
The rate of dropping out of school is increasing every year. Many students are unable to complete their studies for several reasons. Research shows that poverty is the major reason that push students to leave school. In other words, parents, especially in rural areas, are unable to pay school fees for their kids because they are either unemployed or have low paying jobs. Another cause this phenomenon is distance. Many schools are located far away from students’ homes. Besides, school transportation is not always available. Therefore, students are obliged to quit school. Furthermore, owing to illiteracy and ignorance, parents are not always aware of the importance of education in life. They believe that work is more important than education. Consequently, they take their kids out of schools and send them to work to help the family financially. Dropping out of school has a very negative impact on society. It brings about several issues such as illiteracy, crimes, taking drugs, unemployment, family problems, early marriage for girls and even prostitution often. It generally affects society critically. For that reason, this phenomenon should be fought. We should encourage students all over the country to complete their education and motivate drop outs to get back to schools. In order to achieve this, thought, some measures should be taken. For instance, the government should help poor families financially. Besides, it should build more schools in rural areas and provide school transportation for free to students. Furthermore, associations and mass media should sensitize parents to the dangers of dropping out of school and make them realize that education is the key to success and prosperity.
