من أهم المهارات (skills) التي ينبغي على المتعلم إكتسابها في سنوات الدراسة بالثانوي التأهيلي هي القدرة على كتابة رسائل شخصية (Informal letters) و رسائل رسمية (Formal letters) باللغة الإنجليزية. لهذا في هذه المقالة ستجد الفرق بين (Informal letters) و (Formal letters) بالإضافة إلى نمودجين من رسائل رسمية بموضوعين مختلفين (Different topics).

The difference between Informal Letter and Formal Letter
الرسالة الشخصية (Informal letter) هي نوع من الرسائل التي نرسلها إلى أشخاص نعرفهم جيدا مثل الأصدقاء (friends) و العائلة (family) و يكون موضوع (topic) هذا النوع من الرسائل موضوعا شخصيا مثل دعوة إلى حفل عيد الميلاد (invitation to birthday party) أو نصيحة (advice) لصديق ...إلى غير ذلك، كما تكون لغة الرسائل الشخصية لغة عادية قريبة من اللغة التي نستعملها في الحديث اليومي.

الرسالة الرسمية (formal letter) هي نوع من الرسائل التي نرسلها إلى أشخاص لا نعرفهم، غالبا إلى الإدارات (administrations) أو المنظمات (organizations) أو الشركات (companies) و يتميز هذا النوع من الرسائل بمواضيع مهمة (important topics) مثل طلب عمل (job application) طلب معلومات (acquiring information) أو شكوى (complaining) أو طلب مساعدة (asking for help) ... إلى غير ذلك، وتكون لغة هذه الرسائل لغة أكاديمية (academic language) و محترمة. كما تتضمن الرسالة مجموعة من العناصر أهمها عنوان المرسل (sender's address) و عنوان المرسل إليه (receiver's address) و التاريخ (date) بالإضافة إلى عناصر أخرى يمكنك ملاحظتها في النمادج أسفله.
